Walking through the corridors of the 60th edition of the Salone del Mobile immediately catches your attention as the reopening edition in presence places the emphasis on the relationship between environment and space, two concepts of which design finds a synthesis.
Environment is intended as a “green” address, a vision of business aimed at respecting the natural context; this translates into the choice of materials, where preference goes to those recycled or recyclable, and the identification of processes that encourage the use of renewable energy and technologies for reuse, with a view to the circular economy.
Production needs to increasingly speak of harmony and respect, with nature and with human being himself, who works and lives in contact with the elements used.
The trend that sees natural yarns and pigments prevail had already been a key point in the choices of Platinum Custom Rugs, and now it is confirmed as vital as ever.
Environment, however, is also the space to live and furnish, where design is fundamental to create a quality of life made essentially of harmony, virtuous relationships (even only between the size of the rooms and usability of the furnishings).
The companies bring on display, together with their artifacts, also what they have lived in the last – difficult – years, in which the Fair could not be held, proving to the world that they have never stopped: the two years of forced pause were, in fact, moments of high creativity.
The desire to finally touch the creations of the brands is also evident.
The virtual version is no longer enough, and the sentiment that pervades the fair is almost a euphoria of the return to the first-person experience.
The other presence is innovation, mainly in the direction of the reuse of materials, and technology that obliges to a difficult question: how can environment and technology coexist?
This seems to be the real issue for the design world.
From the creative idea to the design, translating a concept into the language of weaving. This is how we create luxury rugs that are perfectly in tune with a general interior design idea.
